chakana notebook
The chakana is a traditional symbol of Andean cultures, especially in Peru and Bolivia. Also known as the "Andean cross", it has a shape reminiscent of a cross with steps, and is considered a sacred symbol that represents the connection between different planes of existence.
It is generally interpreted as a map of the cosmos, reflecting the three main dimensions of reality:
Hanak Pacha (the upper world): Represents the sky, the gods and the spirits.
Kay Pacha (the current world): It is the earthly world, where human beings and other living beings live.
Ukhu Pacha (the underground world): Reflects the inner world, the ancestors, and the spirits that inhabit the underworld.
The chakana also has a strong relationship with the number 12, which symbolizes the connection between the different cycles of time, such as the lunar phases and the seasons of the year.
It is a symbol that is also associated with concepts of balance, harmony, and the interrelation of all the elements of the universe.
